Email Marketing & Automation Consulting

A business-led email-and-flow program, built from scratch or improved

We begin by understanding how the business sells: why customers subscribe, hesitate, buy, and return; the product and repeat-purchase cycle; the promotion calendar; and how the team approves and maintains email. We turn those scenarios into a complete email-and-flow program map that defines whom each path serves, when it starts, what role its messages play, how it coordinates with other communications, when it exits, and how it is measured. The SOW defines the campaigns and flows designed, configured, and tested in the current project. A greenfield program first establishes the sender, sending domain, consent, list, and measurement foundations; an existing program is reviewed across lists, campaigns, flows, cadence, and results before priority improvements are implemented. Shopify can use its current connection. A non-Shopify project uses accepted GTM onsite signals and agreed data paths; any new integration is assessed, implemented, and accepted separately.

Delivery status

A consulting and implementation project. We first map the business scenarios and complete email-and-flow program. The parties then use the scope of work (SOW) to select one starting state—greenfield or existing-program improvement—and fix the current production volume. Three complete reporting months begin after the required integration, sending foundations, lists, and priority paths are accepted.

Who it is for

For founders, GMs, and lifecycle teams that want email to support how the business actually wins and retains customers. The service supports two starting points: teams with no campaigns or flows that need to build from scratch, and teams with an existing program that has not yet organized its lists, campaigns, and automations around the customer decision path, product cycle, and repeat-purchase rhythm. The project can use direct Shopify access or an accepted non-Shopify integration.

Decision this page supports

Confirm the business context and starting state, build the complete email-and-flow program map, then define the first or priority paths in the scope of work (SOW), their acceptance criteria, and the three-month review and handover plan.

Questions covered

  • start email marketing from scratch
  • email marketing consulting
  • email and flow program strategy
  • email automation flow setup
  • email program audit and improvement
  • non-Shopify email automation

01

Prepare sending and measurement foundations for either starting point

Establish them for a greenfield program or verify the current state and gaps for an existing one.

  • Configure or verify the sender, sending domain, required DNS state, and agreed sending identity.
  • Confirm list sources, subscribed, unsubscribed, suppressed, reachable, and applicable consent states.
  • Check whether Shopify events or accepted non-Shopify GTM events support the agreed triggers and measurement.
  • Establish the measurement starting point. With no sending history, record readiness and a first-send baseline instead of inventing past performance.

02

Understand the business before choosing the build path

Email should support the real customer journey. We first confirm business objectives, product and repeat-purchase patterns, promotion rhythm, customer states, and team workflow, then set path priorities.

  • Map the business model, core products, order value and repeat-purchase cycle, promotion calendar, and customer decision path, including the role email should play across applicable acquisition, first-purchase, post-purchase, repeat-purchase, and reactivation scenarios.
  • Confirm priority audiences, brand and offer rules, available assets, sending rhythm, internal approvers, and day-to-day maintenance ownership.
  • Greenfield: design the first SOW-scoped campaigns and flows around the launch objective. An existing email program is not required, and no fixed complete-set template is imposed.
  • Existing program: review list, campaign, and flow triggers, decisions, exits, overlap, cadence, and results, then prioritize improvements by impact, risk, data readiness, and implementation effort.

03

Design the complete program map, then implement this SOW's priority paths

The program map covers the applicable business scenarios and path relationships. The SOW fixes the campaign, flow, message, and creative volume implemented now; both use the same acceptance method.

  • For each applicable scenario, define the objective, audience, trigger, conditions, waits, exits, cadence, and conflict priority with other paths.
  • Define each campaign or flow's message role in the customer journey, content position, asset needs, owner, and measurement points.
  • Design and configure the first or priority campaigns and flows in the SOW, then use test profiles to check consent, suppression, triggers, branches, and result records.
  • Deliver the program map, path priorities, and naming, maintenance, approval, and deactivation instructions so the client team can continue operating it.

Implement first, then report

The three complete reporting months start after both required integration and consulting implementation are accepted

Pricing

Consulting project

One-Time Project Fee

Covers one SOW-selected starting state, consulting implementation and acceptance, and three consecutive monthly reports after acceptance. Exact amounts and payment milestones stay in the controlled quotation or agreement.

Software subscription

The project runs on FosterFlow; both store types use the same current standard monthly subscription

The subscription is charged outside the consulting project fee. An existing active subscription may be reused. The current product purchase route governs the plan; this page does not copy or cache dynamic plan amounts.

Non-Shopify integration

One-Time Implementation Fee based on assessed workload

If GTM / dataLayer, identity, consent, or agreed data paths must be created or completed, scope is assessed, quoted, and accepted first. An accepted path that still meets project requirements is reused; only incremental gaps are assessed.

Delivery window

Required integration plus consulting implementation plus at least three reporting months. The first complete month starts after both the required integration and consulting implementation are accepted.

Inputs required

The first conversation confirms whether this is a greenfield build or an existing-program improvement. Minimum-necessary access and SOW scope are confirmed after kickoff.

  • Agreed FosterFlow and Shopify access, or an accepted non-Shopify GTM and agreed data integration.
  • Sender, sending domain and DNS owner, list and subscription sources, unsubscribe / suppression states, and applicable consent information.
  • Business model, core products, order value and repeat-purchase cycle, customer decision path, promotion calendar, brand and offer rules, available content assets, and approval and maintenance ownership.
  • For a greenfield build: brand, products, customer path, first-launch objective, available content assets, and approval requirements; existing campaigns or flows are not required.
  • For an existing program: current lists, campaigns, flows, sending rhythm, result data, and known problems.

Implementation deliverables

  • Sender, domain, consent, list, reachability, event, and measurement-foundation record.
  • A complete email-and-flow program map covering applicable scenarios, path roles, priorities, conflicts, and measurement.
  • First SOW-scoped campaigns and flows designed from scratch, or an existing-program review and agreed improvement register.
  • First or priority email paths configured and tested to the SOW.
  • Required-integration acceptance, consulting-implementation acceptance, operating notes, and start date for the three reporting months.

How implementation is accepted

  • Both parties confirm that the program map covers the applicable business scenarios defined in the SOW, with each path's objective, audience, trigger, cadence, exit, conflict priority, measurement, and current-versus-later priority recorded.
  • Sender, domain, subscription, unsubscribe, suppression, list sources, events, and measurement states have a verification record.
  • The greenfield first campaigns and flows are configured, or the existing program's agreed improvements are implemented; quantities and scope match the SOW.
  • Test profiles can complete the agreed path, with exceptions and remaining constraints recorded.
  • Both parties confirm the required data integration and consulting implementation are accepted, and agree the start of the first complete reporting month.

Three consecutive months

Use three months of operating signals to refine the email-and-flow program

Each report uses signals observable in that month. When data or sample size is insufficient, it states the constraint and changes the validation approach instead of presenting correlation as impact.

01

Operating foundations, reachability, and program launch status

  • Sending, consent, suppression, and event operating state
  • List quality, coverage, and reachability change
  • Launch status, operating issues, and corrective actions for the first or improved paths in the program map

02

Performance signals, path coordination, and experiment direction

  • Reachability, engagement, and applicable business signals
  • Trigger, branch, cadence, conflict, exit, and adjacent-path coordination issues
  • Next content, cadence, audience, or path experiments

03

Keep, change, stop, and the next 90 days

  • Keep, change, or stop decisions for campaigns / flows
  • Open risks, maintenance ownership, and handover notes
  • Next-90-day program priorities, experiments, and measurement plan

Scope and exclusions

Deliver agreed priority paths without promising unlimited production or fixed results

  • FosterFlow is the operating foundation for this project, and the consulting project fee excludes the software subscription. Shopify and non-Shopify use the same current standard monthly subscription; an existing active subscription may be reused.
  • Advertising spend, third-party software / APIs, cloud resources, and ongoing operations are outside the standard consulting project scope.
  • Non-Shopify GTM, customer/order/product master data, historical backfill, or other supplementary integration is not included by default. When needed, it is assessed and quoted separately as a One-Time Implementation Fee.
  • GTM carries only the onsite events, fields, identity, and consent signals agreed in the SOW. Buying this consulting service does not automatically include complete master-data migration or historical backfill.
  • Complete program map means complete planning across the applicable business scenarios, path relationships, and priorities. Campaign, flow, copy, template, and creative production in the current project remains SOW-scoped; not every mapped scenario is necessarily built and launched now.
  • Unlimited campaigns, flows, copy, templates, creative, or long-term managed operations are excluded; quantities and responsibilities follow the SOW.
  • Welcome, cart-abandonment, repeat-purchase, win-back, and other paths are not all presumed in scope; priority follows the current state and objective.
  • No fixed revenue, conversion, delivery, open, click, or other performance result is guaranteed; external conditions and data quality affect outcomes.
  • Tax, payment, responsibility, and change terms follow the formal quotation or agreement.

Frequently asked questions

Can we buy this if we have never run email campaigns or flows?

Yes. The greenfield path establishes the sender, domain, consent, list, and measurement foundations, then designs, configures, and tests the first campaigns and flows agreed in the SOW. You do not need an existing email program before starting.

What happens when campaigns and flows already exist?

We verify the sending and data foundations, review current lists, campaigns, flows, cadence, conflicts, and results, then implement the priority improvements agreed in the SOW. A full rebuild is not assumed.

Why combine email-marketing and automation-flow consulting?

Sending foundations, lists, campaigns, flows, cadence, and measurement affect one another. Reviewing them separately can fix one point while breaking another; the combined service prioritizes the whole customer path.

How do you understand our business instead of applying a template?

Discovery covers the business model, core products, customer decision and repeat-purchase cycle, promotion rhythm, brand and offer rules, available data, and the team's approval and maintenance workflow. Those findings determine the applicable scenarios, path relationships, and priorities.

Will every standard flow be built?

The project first maps the applicable business scenarios and path relationships into a complete email-and-flow program, then implements the highest-priority campaigns and flows that have sufficient data and can be accepted under the SOW. A complete program map is not a fixed complete set or unlimited production; remaining paths receive an explicit later priority.

When do the three reporting months begin?

The first report covers the first complete monthly window after both required data integration and the email-consulting implementation are accepted. One report follows each month for three consecutive months; integration and implementation time are separate.

Does the project include FosterFlow subscription and long-term managed operations?

No. FosterFlow is the operating foundation for this project. Shopify and non-Shopify use the same current standard monthly software subscription, charged outside the consulting project fee; an existing active subscription may be reused, and the current product purchase route governs the plan. Long-term operations, additional production, third-party software / APIs, and cloud resources are outside the standard project scope.

Can a non-Shopify store buy this service?

Yes. The software still uses the same current standard FosterFlow monthly subscription as Shopify. The project first confirms the existing GTM / dataLayer, identity and consent signals, and the supplementary path for customer, order, and product master data. Any new integration is assessed, implemented, and accepted separately from the consulting fee.

Start with the business, then build the email-and-flow program

Tell us about the business model, core products and repeat-purchase cycle, store platform, and whether a sender, lists, campaigns, flows, and GTM / dataLayer already exist. The first conversation identifies the starting state, applicable scenarios, and priority paths, then separates the consulting project, software subscription, and any non-Shopify implementation required.
